The Wall Street Journal is reporting that AOL Inc. is in talks to purchase blog TechCrunch. Details of the potential deal are unknown and both sides weren't returning calls to WSJ. According to WSJ this isn't the first time that AOL has attempted to purchase TechCrunch. According to their source, a couple of years ago AOL approached TechCrunch about a potential deal. This would be AOL's 2nd purchase of a major tech blog. In 2005 AOL purchased TechCrunch's competitor in Engadget, which would make this potential deal an interesting one.
Since its inception in 2005, TechCrunch has become one of the more influential tech blogs in the world. Also TechCrunch Co-Founder Michael Arrington, has recently expressed frustration in blogging, so this should come as little surprise.
