Verizon is going beyond its normal business model in the cell phone industry. With the launch of its 4G network in the coming months, they are already looking beyond cell phones and are looking to create a whole new market. There first step is to show off their 4G product and convince electronic companies to start adding wireless access to there products (ie. Fridges, coffee makers, washing machines, heart monitors and so forth)
Verizon will have a booth at the Comsumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this coming January. It is here that they will start talking to companies and showing off what 4G can do.
This news directly relates to Verizon's open-access development plan that they launched a couple of years ago, but with the introduction of 4G it steps that plan up to a another level.
