Verizon's Trade-in Program

Verizon introduces its "Verizon Wireless Trade-in Program".  Check it out at www.trade-in.vzw.com/

Looks like Verizon Wireless is thinking that they can entice more people to switch, by offering to purchase their old handsets off them.  While this is a good idea for large companies making the switch but for the average consumer, while although easy and convenient, rips you off.

I ran a couple of phones through the questionnaire and got.

  • Droid 1:  $52
  • Droid 2:  $72
  • Droid X:  $124 (Really!?!  Less then the Eris and Incredible)
  • Droid Eris:  $132
  • Incredible:  $152
  • Storm $8
  • Storm 2 $44
  • iPhone $212
You can very easily sell those same phones for double online at Craigslist or eBay.  Nice try Verizon but your not getting my old phones for that price.
