Verizon Ceo Talks Teired Pricing and iPhone

Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg today talked about the two important issues that can effect us all.  Will touch on the tiered data pricing first.  Seidenberg said he expects his company to introduce tiered data pricing in the coming six months.  This new pricing structure will most likely be affected by 4G (LTE) users and wont go into effect until that network is up and running.  It should come as no surprise that Verizon Wireless will be doing this as as AT&T has already made this move before they even announced their 4G network.

The next part of Seidenberg's speech addressed the recent out pour of a CDMA iPhone.

"We don't feel like we have an iPhone deficit. We would love to carry it when we get there, but we have to earn it," Seidenberg said.

Seidenberg is saying that Verizon would love nothing more to get the iPhone but Apple is going to have to want it to.  Now, there is a lot of chatter that Apple is waiting for 4G to be launched on Verizon and will not build a CDMA iPhone.  This is ridiculous, anybody that says this knows nothing about wireless and how Verizon will operate once LTE is setup.  CDMA is not going away, all phones that run LTE will need to be backwards compatible with CDMA.  So the claim that Apple wont build a CDMA phone is totally baseless.

So all of you who are waiting for a Verizon iPhone, keep your chin up.  Verizon and Apple are just playing games with each other for some reason.
